In Winter 2019, Disneyland Paris will celebrate the Star Wars universe with the Legends of the Force: A Star Wars Celebration season. This newly rebranded season, with the previous name of Season of the Force will take place from January to March 2019. Amongst new features of the season will be a meet and greet with Chewbacca as well as BB-8 and Boba Fett joining the cast of Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.
These new features will be joined by many more new experiences during the season which is becoming Europe’s centre of Star Wars in the winter months. The news was accompanied by the release of a new visual for the season:
Will these changes improve the season?
The problem with the Star Wars season at Disneyland Paris has been its focus on 3 shows (one big and two smaller) in the Walt Disney Studios Park. Lots of opportunities exist to expand the season into Disneyland Park; Star Wars is featured within Disney Illuminations; a Darth Vader meet and greet, as well as Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain in Discoveryland. The season has never really felt cohesive between the two parks and it could and should be tied together better. This is Europe’s premier celebration of Star Wars, one of the world’s biggest franchises.
That being said, any addition to the season will make it seem a lot better. We are already quite a long way from the first edition in 2017; 2018 added a large exhibition of Star Wars vehicles that was very impressive to see and honestly did take my breath away – they had the wow factor in abundance, hopefully these will be back for 2019.
The star of the season will be the Chewbacca meet and greet location, whilst we do not yet know its location, we do know that Chewbacca is a very popular character and that he has a lot of fans; this location will likely have long queues every day.
Where Star Wars lives?
Disneyland Paris is one of the world’s leading destinations for Star Wars fans. In 2019, Walt Disney World and Disneyland will launch their Star Wars themed lands: Galaxy’s Edge. In the Walt Disney Studios Park expansion plan, Disneyland Paris will also be getting a Star Wars themed land, but at a later date. With the aggressive Walt Disney World marketing in the UK, Disneyland Paris will soon be feeling the pressure to up their Star Wars game. This rebranded Star Wars season will offer more chances to enjoy the Star Wars universe in the wait for the Star Wars land.Book your Disneyland Paris stay
